Host an Earth Day neighborhood cleanup for your little piece of earth

Many people outside surrounding a pile of dirty piles retrieved from the area.

Host an Earth Day cleanup in your neighborhood on Saturday, April 26, the same day the Anacostia Watershed Society is doing its cleanups to protect the Anacostia River. This year’s cleanups will have a special focus on beverage bottles and cans, as we push to pass a bottle deposit program in the District, to remove trash from our neighborhoods and rivers.

Any group can host a cleanup: ANCs, neighborhood organizations, even you and a few neighbors.

The Mayor’s Office of the Clean City will provide you with the tools you need and will haul away the trash you collect. But you must send in your form by April 12.

1. Send us  your contact info below

2. Fill out this form

Fill out the DPW Helping Hand form and send it to [email protected] asap. MOCC will provide you with the tools you need and DPW will haul away the trash you collect. Be sure to request pickers, gloves, and trash bags. Submit by April 12 – strict deadline!

3. We’ll send you info

We’ll deliver information about D.C.’s bottle bill for you to share with volunteers  and give you info about how to report the number of bottles and cans you pick up.
