Hearing on nightlife legislation

The Committee on Public Works & Operations will hold a hearing Wednesday, July 8, 10 am, on two nightlife-related pieces of legislation:

One, B26-0369 – Nightlife Noise Balance Act of 2025, addresses nightlife-related noise disturbances, by enabling investigators from the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration to verify noise complaints from outside a residence and creating a separate fine schedule for noise violations.

The other, B26-0648 – DC Hospitality Amendment Act of 2026 would comprehensively update the D.C. code regarding the production, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages, including expanding the hospitality industry in Wards 5, 7, and 8 and Downtown, establishing later weekend alcohol sale and service hours in Downtown on weekends, and making permanent various business practices established in the pandemic that provide more flexibility in the distribution, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
