Neighbors, I wanted to let you know about two events my office is hosting this week.  

The first one is on Monday, September 27. I’ll be at La Molienda Restaurant on 14th St from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Come discuss any concerns or share feedback with me and my team!

The second event is the Stand Up to Street Harassment Bystander Intervention Training on Tuesday, September 28 at 6:00pm. This training is the product of a bill I introduced in 2017 called the Street Harassment Prevention Amendment Act. The goal of the legislation is to eradicate street harassment through education and culture change. 

The legislation established an advisory committee to help develop policies, guidelines and procedures to educate District employees to identify and address street harassment and conduct a survey to collect data so that we have a better understanding on the pervasiveness of street harassment in the District. In 2020, the Office of Human Rights released the first report, The State of Street Harassment in DC, and now we are kicking off the trainings. Register for the virtual training here.
