Councilmember Nadeau Statement on Death at 18th & U Street NW

“I’m still reeling from the senseless death on 18th Street last night (March 8, 2022), of which there have been too many recently. There have been several different reports about what happened, so I’d like to convey what MPD has reported so that we all have the facts.

“According to MPD, “Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 8:03 pm, the suspect entered the victim’s unoccupied vehicle in the 1800 block of Vernon Street, Northwest. The suspect attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle and struck the victim at the listed location. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.”

“This is a horrible tragedy, like any violence in our community. MPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the vehicle described as a dark silver Mercedes E350 with Ohio tag EVB5183.

“I will work with our authorities to bring justice for this victim, as I do for all victims here in the District.”
