Nadeau Introduces Vote-By-Mail Bill to Increase Voter Participation
Today, Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau introduced the Vote by Mail Amendment Act of 2019 which requires the Board of Elections (BOE) to offer paper ballots for all elections to be mailed or dropped off at designated locations, in addition to allowing people to vote in person. The legislation is aimed at making voting easier and increasing voter participation across the District. In addition to Nadeau, the bill is co-introduced by a majority of the Council including Councilmembers Charles Allen, Mary Cheh, Robert White, Jr., David Grosso, Anita Bonds, Kenyan McDuffie, and Jack Evans. It was co-sponsored by Councilmember Vincent Gray. The legislation was referred to the Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety.
Nadeau Celebrates $1 Million for Ward 1 Public Housing Repairs
WASHINGTON – Today, Ward 1 D.C. Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau celebrated securing $1 million for Ward 1 public housing repairs in the FY20 budget passed by Council this week. An amendment, written by Nadeau and At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman, was included in the budget to redirect funds that had been set aside for the Line Hotel’s tax abatement toward public housing repairs in Ward 1. The amendment comes after the District’s Attorney General confirmed that the hotel was not eligible for the abatement after it did not meet the law’s local hiring requirements.

Nadeau Bill Provides On-Site Services for Residents in Multi-Unit Buildings
WASHINGTON – Working to provide better access to social services, Ward 1 D.C. Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau introduced a bill today that would provide on-site services for residents in certain multi-unit buildings. The On-Site Services Act of 2019 is supported by a majority of Council. Nadeau Bill Would Bring DC Housing Authority Under Mayoral Control
WASHINGTON – Working to protect the District’s public housing, Ward 1 D.C. Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau introduced a bill today that would move the D.C. Housing Authority from an independent agency to an agency under Mayoral control.
