It was a long day at the Council yesterday, as we took up the Secure DC omnibus public safety bill. We voted to approve the bill in its first reading, with a number of critical changes and protections; we will take up additional amendments at the final reading in a few weeks.

Thank you to residents and ANC commissioners who joined me last week for my Coffee Walk in Columbia Heights in ANC 1A. We talked rats, trash, public safety and looked up close at a vacant property on Hiatt Place.
Newsletter update from Councilmember Nadeau
Council recess is coming to an end, which means we are getting ready for the restart of legislative meetings, the first of which is next Tuesday, Sept. 19. “Recess” doesn’t mean vacation – My staff and I have been working on a variety of issues and preparing legislation for the fall.
You might be hearing me talk a bit more lately about the role of MPD, a result of the recent incidents. But my comprehensive approach has not changed since I first became involved in D.C. government as an ANC commissioner.
