Aamir is interested in, and excited to be working on, finding policy solutions for issues that affect Ward 1 and the District as a whole. His portfolio within the Committee on Human Services includes the Department of Disabilities Services, the Office of Disabilities Rights, and other agencies that work with people with disabilities. Additionally, Aamir’s work includes issues relating to housing and neighborhood revitalization, education, and labor & workforce redevelopment. Prior to joining D.C. Council, he worked in legislative affairs at the federal level. Aamir holds a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, and holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota where he majored in Political Science and Global Studies.
